:: DEAR 2010 ::

photo src | googleimages
It was a pleasure to meet you. I wish we could have gotten to know each other better...had some better times. However, I am grateful for the times we did share. The surprises that you brought me, the lessons that you taught me. I did things I thought I would never dare.

To 2011, I look forward to making a great relationship with you during our time together. Let's make it memorable. Let's treat each other right and make it the best we ever had. ♥

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

:: GIRL ABOUT TOWN : SHAKEN NOT STIRRED ::

What a relief from the snow and cold temperatures lately! Today was brisk, but totally comfortable. Oh how I wish this was as cold as it gets! No need for a huge scarf, wool coat and multiple layers of clothing . Not to mention hats and gloves, neither of which I have. Perhaps I'll buy some before winter is beyond us :) My outfit doesn’t really consist of anything that you haven’t seen before. I’m wearing a few of my favorites is all. Consider it a fashion cosmo...shaken, not stirred.

:: ROAD WARRIORS ::

8:00 AM: Favorite guy and I are packed up and ready to go.
8:30 AM: Armed with my Starbucks Triple Tall Skinny Vanilla Latte...yum ♥
11:30 AM: Pit-stop for gas. No, we didn't get it here but I thought the old diesel pumps were cool :)
12:30 PM: King's Mountain
Who knows? PM: Big Peach in Gaffney, SC
The unexpected snowfall
Consequence of unexpected snowfall...train ride back home. Better safe than sorry I guess :)
Here's a brief chronicle of my trip to NC for Christmas. As I told you pre-trip, I was heading up the road with my BFF for about 5 hours. I just snapped landmarks that I always see when I head up I-85N along with the crazy and beautiful unexpected snow storm, to my wait at the train station at 1:00 in the morning trying to get back to Georgia. Bon Temps!

:: GIRL ABOUT TOWN : HOLIDAY LEFTOVERS ::

(Dossier: F21 chambray shirt/sequin clutch, J. Crew skirt, Fendi boots, mom's paisley scarf)
Sorry for the awfully tired looking pictures. Pay no mind to my haggard appearance. I guess I was more tired than I thought I was.

So, I had the pleasure of spending time with my family in NC for the holiday weekend. I'm still pinching myself on the notion that it actually snowed on Christmas. Ask anyone, I had been "dreaming of  a White Christmas", and that's where I thought the act would remain...in my dreams. I was indeed shocked, a bit confused, and yet thrilled to be awaken by my mother's exclamation, "It's snowing outside!" And boy did it snow! If you look closely you can see part of the accumulated flurries nested on tree branches outside the window. I'll post a couple of pictures of me in the snow in a day or so. Once again...haggard! I think I will only expose you to two to avoid the risk of further embarrassment. Ha! Oh, and by the way, the snow in NC has nothing on the pounding my home state of New Jersey got recently. I mean 32 inches?! Really?

Woohoo! 2 more days left! I will be taking a short road trip with the favorite guy tomorrow early am. Eek! I hate the early morning hours, but the wonderful family awaits and its sooo worth it. As for now, I am still in the blogging mood, so I think it'll be safe to say that I will be updating post as normal. Exception being Christmas, but you guys probably won't be up here then anyway ;)

:: RUE CHIC ::

photo src(s) | style.com/jak&jil/stockholmstreetstyle
I am in major need of Wardrobe Rehab and it WILL be done right after the holidays. Gone are the days of my maniacal spending habits on unnecessary purchases that I ultimately end up not wearing. Part to blame are these amazingly chic women who flaunt all the latest must have items, leaving me lusting for a cheaper rendition of their covetable belongings. Such lust leads to other menial purchase and a pile of clothes on my sofa and tagged items hanging in my closet. I am going to carefully dissect Dead Fleurette's guide to wardrobe essentials and building the perfect wardrobe techniques when I return from my holiday trip.

I thought that I would share with you my latest musings of street style ensembles. I do this all the time for my own private use, but sometimes instead of collecting them in my inspiration folder on my hard drive to refer back to, I like to share them with you guys and hear your thoughts. Enjoy!

:: SUNDAY'S BEST : A NOVEL IDEA ::

photo src | nastygal
 Some Sundays I would just love to wake up, prepare my morning brew, open the blinds and sit back and read a good book. I had been reading Jane Eyre for a moment. Perhaps, I should pick up where I left off :) Any good reads that you know of? I could get lost in a novel letting my imagination conjure up the imagery a good story evoked. So captivating. I miss those days! Must. Do. More. Often.

I want to hear titles. Shoot!

:: 12 D.O.C. : HOLIDAY SPARKLE ::

(spike multi-chain necklace from local boutique, cuff from eBay, F21 sequin clutch )

I had been coveting the Miu Miu oversized sequined clutch as well as their large tote version  for ages. Like most girls, I love anything sparkly and sequins are the perfect fix. Unlike glitter that flakes everywhere and looks cheap in most instances, the adorable little paillettes look more substantial when embellishing and adding that touch of sparkle.  I was on the Forever 21 website (as always) and happened to stumble upon their version of the oversized clutch! I was immediately smitten. Crossing my fingers and hoping it didn't look like some cheap DIY art project, I added to the bag and checked out. When it arrived, it was perfect. Not Miu Miu, but a perfect "inspired" version at a perfect price of $22.80.

December 2010

As we approach the final stretch into Christmas, I assume you guys have already attended your holiday parties. Unfortunately, I decided to decline the opportunity to attend my usual holiday shindig due to personal reasons. So, I didn't have the pleasure of dressing up, partying into the morning and forgetting what I did last night this year. But, if I did, I would've wanted to wear this very dress. Sexy, festive...and totally breathtaking!

:: 12 D.O.C : ON THE ROAD AGAIN ::

photo src | nastygal
I absolutely adore the new photos for the Nasty Gal December Look Book! Karina rocks and is the perfect Nasty Gal. I mean the girl makes EVERYTHING look great. Trust me, if you know about Nasty Gal, then you know what I mean. This photo reminded me of a Christmas road trip. You know, you have driven a few hours and you find this quaint little diner off the highway after filling your tank with premium unleaded. A few strings of Christmas lights, bows, garland, and lest not forget the spray snow on the windows all to keep the spirit going while you're away from home. I have my own road trip to conquer this season as I am driving about 5 hours up the road to NC. As much as I dread the drive alone, I look forward to the light at the end of the tunnel. The light that hosts family, great food and good times!

:: 12 DOC : RUSSIAN DOLL ::

photo src | fashiongonerogue | post-production effects by me
Originally this image was shot by Sebastian Kim for Numero #118. The model Samantha Gradoville looked so much like a Russian Doll to me that I thought it would be fitting for the 12 Days of Christmas posts. I added a little snow and mistletoe for a winter wonderland effect. This brings back memories of my days as a little girl obsessed with dolls, especially porcelain ones. I will never forget the day my mom bought me my favorite porcelain doll for Christmas. I could've been in tears I was so overjoyed! That very doll remains in my old bedroom back home til this very day, still in her original emerald green box :)

Do you have a favorite childhood Christmas memory?

:: SUNDAY'S BEST ::

photo src | unknown

Welcome to the first post under the new category SUNDAY'S BEST. I always feel a certain kind of way whenever Sunday arrives. Its actually my favorite day of the week. I don't always get to enjoy it the way that I would like to due to this great thing called work. So, instead of being bummed out about it, I decided to live vicariously through pictures that depict what I feel like and/or like doing on a Sunday. Ah...well...off to work I go, but if you're one of the lucky ones that is at home on your computer, please enjoy this small wonder of a post. Java anyone?

JASON WU/PRE-FALL 2010

photo src | vogue.com

I wasn't really in the writing mood tonight. So, when I came across these photos of Jason Wu's Pre-fall collection, I thought to myself, "Voila, problem solved." The collection is so amazing that it speaks for itself, no words necessary. But, if I had to sum it up into one, it would be..."Lace."

:: GIRL ABOUT TOWN : NEUTRAL MELODY

(Dossier: London Fog trench, my mom's paisley scarf, Aqua circle scarf, BDG jeans, F21 chambray shirt, Kenneth Cole Reaction shearling boots)

A quick little outfit post on a cold day. I had just finished having lunch with an old dear friend at a great little Cuban restaurant in the area. These colder days are sweeping in and staying for awhile. To think, just a few months ago I wanted relief from the hot weather. I was cool, coasting on brisk fall weather. But now, gray skies and windy, cold weather is taking over and dare I say that I can't wait for spring? The silver lining to this whole wintry mess, is that I get to wear all of my boots. I bought this new pair from Kenneth Cole just the other day. It was an impulsive purchase based on pure adrenaline, but thankfully I didn't come down with Buyer's Remorse. I am smitten with them and the fact that they resemble my beloved Uggs (yes, I said beloved...sue me.) but with a slight riding boot twist. Cozy and divine for freezing errand-filled days...*sigh*

:: GIRL ABOUT TOWN : VAGRANT ::

THE HORIZONTALS

AND NOW THE VERTICALS

THE END.
(Dossier: Club Monaco sheer blouse, Zara pants (seen here), Fendi suede OTK boots, vintage Fendi cross body bag and fur collar, H&M rope belt)

A friend of mine one day said to me, "I'm trying to turn my blog into a print publication." His desire was to offer our city something different, touch on some very deprived areas of the local fashion industry. Having way more faith in the cause than I, lo and behold, he pushed forward to achieve his mission. Today, ladies and gentlemen, mission is accomplished. My fellow blogger and thoroughly entertaining friend, Tomik Dash has taken the steps necessary to make his blog, Vintage Clothes + Designer Drugs a certified legit magazine. So, to celebrate and raise some funds for the forthcoming VAGRANT magazine, he hosted this super cool, "anti-basic" party last night. So "anti-basic" in fact, that he enlisted up and coming designer Jason Gurley to preview his decadently dark debut collection for The House of March. (mmm..how about that for alliteration?) I decided to not only come support, but to share with you guys an inside peek of what happened last night. And really, do we ever get enough of looking at other people's photos? Exactly.
