Ah, it's time to do a switcharoo. I've been rocking the same shades for a little over a year now, maybe more. You know the ones, my favorite pair of Jimmy Choo Cass sunglasses. While I still absolutely ADORE them, I really want to try something different...a little quirky even. I'm really crushing on the pink ones that Tracy is wearing, but I'm not sure if it will suit my complexion. I think it's time to do a little sunglasses shopping, oh joy! I've had my eye on Celine, Cutler and Gross and Super to name a few, but I haven't taken the plunge. Any suggestions?

Those featured here are twenty out of many that make my heart go boom. With so much talent out there in the world, how can a girl choose? As with everything in life, some are better than others and these designers are apart of the stand-out crew. Most CFDA winners and/or nominees, their talent and creative vision has taken the industry by storm. They are THE must have, must wear of right now. Personally, I am in awe of their ability to share commonality but still stand out as individuals (i.e.; most are heavy on prints but done in a variety of ways and some are masters of minimalism and defined cuts).

Make note, I am not biased against up-and-coming designers as well as those starting out. Lest not forget the indie designers, those paying their dues, the ones yet to be discovered or getting the success they deserve. I am totally supportive of them and their journey. Their hearts are filled with passion and minds strong with dedication and everyone has their time. Perhaps, I will create a yearbook page of the magna cum laude and the rising stars a' la Thomas Tait in a different post.

DIARY OF A SHOPAHOLIC: NEW SHOES...AGAIN

One thing that I love more than shopping is a great shopping story.
A story of kismet. What's meant for you will be yours kind of thing.
There is a story to these shoes, and while yes, I could've saved my money. I firmly believe that these shoes were supposed to be mine.

Several months back, I found these Jerome C. Rousseau shoes on Yoox and loved them! Unfortunately, I wasn't quick enough and they all sold out. Poor me, right?
Well, after a brief obsession (internet hunting for another pair) I digressed. On to the next thing. Recently, I received one of many email alerts from Gilt and this particular one listed Jerome C. Rousseau shoes, Raphael Young, etc. "Hmm, perhaps they will have those JCR shoes that I wanted on Yoox months ago. Let's just see..." I say to myself as I click on the link. Voila! Behold the shoes on Gilt for $239. "Oh man! I HAVE to get these now. Here's to second chances." So, I ordered them. Well, I was unsure about sizing and was afraid that I had ordered them a size too small. Yikes! I google "Jerome Rousseau shoe sizing" and up pops a link for Yoox at the very top. I'm thinking to myself, "Why did Yoox pop up? Clearly, they are out of that shoe, I remember." Eh, why not? Let's just see. I nearly lost my breath! There they were, BACK on Yoox and NOW for $135. Aha! AND, the only size they had left was a 9.5US. Seriously. So, I cancelled my Gilt order (sorry) and added them to cart. I wanted to get free shipping which there were not advertising on the site at the moment (just my luck) so I went to retailmenot for a code. I found one that had only a 42% success rate so I was skeptical. I copied it and entered it onto the checkout page and wished upon a star that it would accept it. This story just got better, code applied! And there you have it, I got my new babies for $135 and free shipping. So, the moral of this story is..."good things come to those who wait."

No really, it's just a game of chance, and I got lucky...really lucky :-)

I just happened to come across this photographer's blog, completely by accident. Now, I'm completely in love. I can't stop clicking "older posts" as I am so inspired by his ability to so beautifully capture women. Most of you do not know, that I am pursuing photography and trying to develop my eye and skill. This gives me so much to study and analyze for hours on end.

So, just a little less than a month left until I head out west for a few days. I wish I had a pretty model to practice my work on! Perhaps, I'll find one during my trip. Fendi has partnered with Saks Fifth Avenue for their first ever Fatto A Mano (made-to-order) event series. Saks Atlanta was the first store chosen to kick off the tour, so I had the pleasure of getting some great footage of what the event is all about! In case you didn't know, Fendi has their own hand-stitched, hand-crafted handbag line called, Selleria (pronounced, celery-a). Each bag is made from various pieces of luxurious, soft, pebbled Roman calf leather which is available in a wide array of colors. So much dedication and attention to detail goes into creating each of these pieces that it absolutely blows my mind. I tried my best to capture the essence of the process, so enjoy and be inspired :)

What's one thing that I love just as much as vintage clothing? Vintage jewelry. During my time online, which consumes a major chunk of my day, I like to browse vintage clothing and accessories on ebay. It's soothing at times and exciting, but I have to be in the mood. So when the urge hits, I find great items such as these! I usually "watch" a bunch of things, then go back and edit which is SUPER important. It's during the editing process that I can whittle down my impulses and really buy the right and worthy. What deems "right and worthy"? What is the determining factor for which ones make the cut? Well, I have to usually ask myself a less than desirable amount of questions. I won't hold you captive inside my ~~torture chamber~~ head too long so you won't have to endure my thought process, but I will share with a few considerations.

Is it the right length? If it's less than 18" I won't buy it because I think I have a big neck and hate the way it looks and I will feel choked with anything less.
Does it have all the components that I'm looking for? (i.e., does it fit the mental image that I manifested before seeing the selection?) It's easy to get caught up in the magic and end up with "useless" pieces.
Will I really wear it? What are some items in my closet that I would coordinate it with?
Is it worth the price? "Worth" may different for you than it is for me, so it's a personal decision for the buyer. I'll leave that for you to decide.

Ohhh!! What a delightful treat it was to attend the Kevork Kiledjian Fall/Winter 2011 Runway show during my Fashion Week experience. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the aforementioned name, the line was once known as Guilty Brotherhood. Ring a bell now? Well, going forward it will be shown under its designer's name, Kevork Kiledjian. You may want to take note of it, for you will surely be hearing his name for seasons to come. I could have literally bought and proudly worn every piece from this collection...LITERALLY. I mean...how could a girl say 'no' to leather skinnies (in purple and black), body-con dresses, fringe skirts, and fur? <= Well, I'm sure there is a girl that can say no to fur, but hey...don't judge me. I thoroughly enjoyed the show which seemed to go way too fast and end way too soon! Not to mention, I was able to bump up to front row as well as gain backstage entry. And my gift to you my lovely readers? A piece of what I experienced! Seeee... I like to share :)

I'm back! I had a wonderful time being in NYC for my first Fashion Week ever, celebrating my 30th birthday, and expanding my horizons. Here are some random photos that I took while there. I have a bad habit of not taking pictures whenever I am in New York. I think its because I am a bit jaded being from NJ and going 'across the bridge' all the time. Nevertheless, every time I go, I always have a new and inspiring experience. I can't wait to finally call the city my home in the coming months.

SN: Isn't that Henri Bendel window display amazing?! Oh, and the F21 in Times Square is huge and overwhelming. If I weren't hanging with my guys, I surely would've spent some quality shopping time there!

So...I don't think I mentioned this on the blog (only on Twitter) that I was going to New York Fashion Week! I am super excited as this will be my very first time going. I am not really doing any show coverage this season, but I will be doing outfit posts for here and lots of shots for CURB APPEAL.

Another great thing is that my birthday happens to be during Fashion Week as well and it's the big 3-0! Wow, I can NOT believe that I am about to be 30. Hola peeps!

I have exciting news. I have started another blog dedicated to street style. I would love to document from all over the world as well as Atlanta. Greatest part? I'm shooting it all myself! That's right, just add "streetstyle photographer" to my resume'. I figured that since I am obsessed with the concept, and have been going insane with my new camera (I've always been intrigued by photography) that I would shoot things that inspired me instead of snatching them from someone else's blog. Besides, I wanted to create a niche for Atlanta done the way I always envisioned it. Personal flair you could call it. I was thoroughly entertained with the Topshop S/S 2011 Lookbook and its wide spectrum of trends. I am pretty sure they touched base on almost every trend noted for S/S 2011. All white ensembles, prints, color-blocking, neutrals, and bold colors to name a few. There is a little something special for every type of girl housed all under one mega shop! It's a snow day!!!

We were hit with a moderate snowstorm last night and with the ice following shortly after, the city shut down today. That means that I got a "GET OUT OF ~~JAIL~~ WORK, FREE" card and I was left at home, in bed, doodling as you see here. No, really I am thinking of some looks for a little something that I am planning on, but can't say right now for the risk of jinxing it. Don't you just love when people do that? They pique your interest and then swear themselves to secrecy? I don't. I hate it :) But, I really just can't say!

There is nothing like the company of friends, especially good ones. I remember when my schedule was far more predictable, Favorite Guy and I would have a "day" where would go do all of "our day" type of things. Whether it was visiting the Design District to browse antique/thrift furniture, or stop by furniture galleries just for inspiration or great finds, or squeeze through bolts of fabric at Forsyth while managing to dodge the roosters that occupy the storefront, or stalking H&M for the newest and latest, we always had a great time. It was so peaceful and fun to share those moments of enthusiasm with someone who "gets" you. The icing on the cake? We would always top the day off with McDonald's. Yep, I said it. Mickey D's :)

About a week ago, I mentioned on my Facebook page (which I hope that you are already a fan of, ahem. BUT, if not :( please click "like" in the little black box on the right...mmmk?) So as I was saying, about a week ago, I posed a question on my Facebook page asking about a reasonable budget for a season's wardrobe. I am excited about the upcoming S/S 2011 season and my new objectives for spending (which means dramatically decreasing it...seriously)! I am still awaiting your input on that because I really would like to know, "What's your clothing and accessories budget for Spring?"

This now leads me to another point in this quest. Shoes! I decided that I no longer want to buy tons of less expensive shoes and just invest in a really good, fashionable pair. I have to set up a budget for this as well which I will be included in the total wardrobe budget. SOOOO....I've been looking...and looking....and looking. Should I go classic or trendy? Should I buy neutral or color?

I took inventory of the shoes that I currently have. Here are my classics:

Black flat
Black ankle bootie
Black strappy sandal

Am I missing any? Let me know! I feel that with what I have already, that I have a little room to go out the box and make a statement. I just require 3 things:

What a relief from the snow and cold temperatures lately! Today was brisk, but totally comfortable. Oh how I wish this was as cold as it gets! Here's a brief chronicle of my trip to NC for Christmas. As I told you pre-trip, I was heading up the road with my BFF for about 5 hours. I just snapped landmarks that I always see when I head up I-85N along with the crazy and beautiful unexpected snow storm, to my wait at the train station at 1:00 in the morning trying to get back to Georgia. Sorry for the awfully tired looking pictures. Pay no mind to my haggard appearance. I guess I was more tired than I thought I was.

So, I had the pleasure of spending time with my family in NC for the holiday weekend. I'm still pinching myself on the notion that it actually snowed on Christmas. Ask anyone, I had been "dreaming of a White Christmas", and that's where I thought the act would remain...in my dreams. I was indeed shocked, a bit confused, and yet thrilled to be awaken by my mother's exclamation, "It's snowing outside!" And boy did it snow! If you look closely you can see part of the accumulated flurries nested on tree branches outside the window. I'll post a couple of pictures of me in the snow in a day or so. Once again...haggard! I think I will only expose you to two to avoid the risk of further embarrassment. Ha! Oh, and by the way, the snow in NC has nothing on the pounding my home state of New Jersey got recently. I mean 32 inches?! Really?

I had been coveting the Miu Miu oversized sequined clutch as well as their large tote version for ages. Like most girls, I love anything sparkly and sequins are the perfect fix. Unlike glitter that flakes everywhere and looks cheap in most instances, the adorable little paillettes look more substantial when embellishing and adding that touch of sparkle. I was on the Forever 21 website (as always) and happened to stumble upon their version of the oversized clutch! I was immediately smitten. Crossing my fingers and hoping it didn't look like some cheap DIY art project, I added to the bag and checked out. When it arrived, it was perfect. Not Miu Miu, but a perfect "inspired" version at a perfect price of $22.80.

Trust me, if you know about Nasty Gal, then you know what I mean. This photo reminded me of a Christmas road trip. You know, you have driven a few hours and you find this quaint little diner off the highway after filling your tank with premium unleaded. A few strings of Christmas lights, bows, garland, and lest not forget the spray snow on the windows all to keep the spirit going while you're away from home. I have my own road trip to conquer this season as I am driving about 5 hours up the road to NC. As much as I dread the drive alone, I look forward to the light at the end of the tunnel. The light that hosts family, great food and good times!

Originally this image was shot by Sebastian Kim for Numero #118. The model Samantha Gradoville looked so much like a Russian Doll to me that I thought it would be fitting for the 12 Days of Christmas posts. I added a little snow and mistletoe for a winter wonderland effect. This brings back memories of my days as a little girl obsessed with dolls, especially porcelain ones. I will never forget the day my mom bought me my favorite porcelain doll for Christmas. I could've been in tears I was so overjoyed! That very doll remains in my old bedroom back home til this very day, still in her original emerald green box :)

Welcome to the first post under the new category SUNDAY'S BEST. I always feel a certain kind of way whenever Sunday arrives. Its actually my favorite day of the week. I don't always get to enjoy it the way that I would like to due to this great thing called work. So, instead of being bummed out about it, I decided to live vicariously through pictures that depict what I feel like and/or like doing on a Sunday. A quick little outfit post on a cold day. I had just finished having lunch with an old dear friend at a great little Cuban restaurant in the area. These colder days are sweeping in and staying for awhile. To think, just a few months ago I wanted relief from the hot weather. I was cool, coasting on brisk fall weather. But now, gray skies and windy, cold weather is taking over and dare I say that I can't wait for spring? The silver lining to this whole wintry mess, is that I get to wear all of my boots. I bought this new pair from Kenneth Cole just the other day. It was an impulsive purchase based on pure adrenaline, but thankfully I didn't come down with Buyer's Remorse. I am smitten with them and the fact that they resemble my beloved Uggs (yes, I said beloved...sue me.) but with a slight riding boot twist. Cozy and divine for freezing errand-filled days...*sigh*

A friend of mine one day said to me, "I'm trying to turn my blog into a print publication." His desire was to offer our city something different, touch on some very deprived areas of the local fashion industry. Having way more faith in the cause than I, lo and behold, he pushed forward to achieve his mission. Today, ladies and gentlemen, mission is accomplished. My fellow blogger and thoroughly entertaining friend, Tomik Dash has taken the steps necessary to make his blog, Vintage Clothes + Designer Drugs a certified legit magazine. So, to celebrate and raise some funds for the forthcoming VAGRANT magazine, he hosted this super cool, "anti-basic" party last night. So "anti-basic" in fact, that he enlisted up and coming designer Jason Gurley to preview his decadently dark debut collection for The House of March. (mmm..how about that for alliteration?) I decided to not only come support, but to share with you guys an inside peek of what happened last night. And really, do we ever get enough of looking at other people's photos? Exactly.

I've been searching for the perfect fur. Of course it's going to be vintage because I am not monetarily capable to do otherwise. In other words, I'm poor. So, I've been scouring eBay for the perfect find. I have to admit that I've drooled over a few and lost a few, so I have yet to make a home for a new piece in my closet. This would be my first as well so how much is too much? Anybody know a good price to pay for a vintage fur? Give me a range so I can wrap my head around it. Muchos gracias.

Bonjour! I hope everyone's Thanksgiving Day was stellar! I am nibbling on homemade pumpkin pie as I type this. Type, pie break...type, pie break...(now is probably best I take a break from the pie). Thanksgiving is quickly upon us! I feel like while time is whizzing past me, I am stuck in slow motion. I haven't done any Christmas shopping yet! To be quite honest, I haven't even thought of any Christmas gifts. I know, I know, I feel horrible...but I'm not alone in this am I? Besides, I do this every year so I believe that subconsciously, I love the rush of last minute shopping. I went pretty casual today, I had to run light errands and didn't feel like heels, ya know? I scored these really comfy and cheap boots after reading the November issue of People StyleWatch. Love them!
